The Joys of Moving

Moving is exciting for little kids because they can get into things they shouldn't.  :D

Working Hard

James is working really hard.  Crawling, sitting, textures, he is going through muscle boot camp.  Now that we are in the house and have more room therapy is a little easier.  James is working with the incline plane, a device some friends of ours developed to teach their daughter to crawl.  James does already crawl so he doesn't need the incline necessarily (that part uses gravity to make crawling a little easier) but it keeps him moving forward, not rolling, and helps maintain good body alignment and positioning.  As you can tell by the video James really loves his ball.

We also worked on some "free crawling" in the nice long hallway downstairs.  Check it out:

By the way, the longer attempt didn't go so well.  We still have work to do!

James is really finicky about textures which is not abnormal for children with feeding difficulties.  He is at a point now where we can't continue to cater to this.  When we go on day trips we pack his blended meals for the day in a cooler.  It is normal for those meals to become more solid than liquid in the cold container, but we can usually add water to balance it back out at meal time.  This has been more difficult with green beans and bananas (not together!).  We have been in situations where the food has become too chunky for his liking and he refuses to eat it, usually spitting it back out.  Since that is not an option we decided to be more forceful with introducing textures.  When he spits it back out we firmly say "no", scoop up what he spit out and put it back in his mouth, tell him to swallow, and keep the spoon near his chin until he swallows.  If he spits it back out we repeat the process until he gets the hang of it.  He did really well with textured banana today, initially spitting it out but after one or two struggles he ate the whole snack.

New Digs

James is busy exploring and enjoying his new home.  Some exciting new things:

Now that we have a kitchen table again James has a permanent spot and he loves sitting with us.

James is "So Big"!

James has his own room.  We think he likes it.  :D

We have a tub again and James has his very own bathroom!  He is loving his baths - look at him sitting up!

We are working on getting his PT room put together and can't wait to get going on some hard-core therapy!

Moving On

We are getting ready for our big move into our very own house!  James found his own way to help with the packing:

James was in heaven this morning, playing with two balls and listening to music.  He is trying hard to say "ball."

James is starting to army crawl!  Check out the video:

He is also learning to drink his water by himself, although we have to work on putting the bottle down when he is finished instead of his propensity to throw it.  He is very proud of himself.  :D

Busy Bee

We always forget just how busy the month of May is.  Always, every year.  :D

Here are some pictures from the month of May:

James in Uncle Thomas' old outfit.  I have a "matching picture" of Thomas and me when he was a baby.

Rocking the burgundy with daddy.

Relief on a super hot day.

Illegally combing through the bags of packing paper.

A little boy who doesn't like swinging even for the enthusiasm of his aunt.
